XM 19 is an austenitic, nitrogen strengthened steel offering corrosion resistance and high strength. XM-19 can be provided annealed at 1950 F to 2050 F or 1066 C to 1121 Celsius. As per machining of XM-19 material, it demonstrates a high work-hardening rate only low cutting speeds to be used as compared with low alloyed standard austenitic stainless steels. Few of the best features of these Stainless Steel XM 19 flanges are high strength austenitic alloy and good corrosion resistance. Due to these excellent features they find applications in heat exchangers, seawater pump shafts, pressure vessels, and marine hardware. When as-welded material is to be used in strongly corrosive media, the 2050 F or 1121 degree C condition is specified to minimize the possibility of inter granular attack.
